The Mustang Tiji festival is well known as “The chasing of the demons” and centers on the Tiji myth. Tiji tells the story of a deity named Dorje Jono who must battle against his demon father to save the Kingdom of Mustang from destruction. The demon father wreaks havoc on Mustang by creating a water shortage which, in this extremely arid land, is the most precious life-sustaining resource. Dorje Jono eventually defeats the demon and banishes him from the land. The Tiji festival is celebrated to invoke the mighty Dorje Jono to remove any obstacles out of the way.

During the festival, people from all walks of life gather together and depict themselves in different characters. The demons and deity created by using the colorful dresses and hideous masks. The drama of deity winning over demon is shown and the demons are chased away from the area. People sing and perform their cultural dances. They chant prayers and remember their god. The festival is also remarkable as it is a symbol of togetherness. People come together to celebrate with joy and treasure their unique custom. Day 01: May – Arrival in Kathmandu

  • Transfer to hotel. Short briefing of the following program, rest of the day leisure or looking around nearby places, O/N at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 02: Cultural excursion in Kathmandu.

  • Meeting with Trekking guide & last minute preparation before heading for trekking, O/N at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 03: Early morning set off to Pokhara 

  • 6 hours drive along the river bank with wonderful views of villages, terraced farmland, down- hill valley, typical market places & mountains. Upon arrival, enjoy the awesome views of famous Annapurna range including Mt. Fishtail that dominates the skyline or explore Fewa Lake and colorful street of Pokhara, O/N at hotel in Pokhara

Day 04: After early breakfast transfer to local airport & Fly to Jomsom.

  • A 20 minute flight will takes you to the heart of highland from where we start our journey to this secret land. Later walking toward Kagbeni (2860M), 4 hours, O/N at Family run Inn

Day 05: Trekking to Chele (3050m),

Day 06: Trekking to Syanbochen (3475m),

Day 13: May- Lo- Manthang,

Day 14: Trekking to Drakmar (3800m),

Day 15: Trekking to Ghiling (3810m),

Day 16: Trekking to Chuksang (3050m),

Day 17: Trek down to Jomsom (2700m),

Day 18: Fly back to Pokhara,

Day 19: Drive to Kathmandu,

  • After B/F at hotel, drive back to Kathmandu on. Leisure or looking around local market for last minute shopping or personal activities on own, O/N hotel in Kathmandu(Note: Can take flight to return Kathmandu instead of drive | Cost extra !)  

Day 20: Leisure day in Kathmandu

  • Leisure in Kathmandu, shopping or personal activities. Also considered as spare day in case of delay to arrive Kathmandu, O/N at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 21: May- Fly back home,

  • Breakfast, transfer to Airport on time & fly home with wonderful memories to cherish to through the lifetime…
