Poon Hill Sunrise Trek is a great experience with less physical exercise than some of the bigger treks. This is the best trip for people travelling with kids or senior citizens or those wishing a less strenuous trek. A combination of culture, landscape & great Mountain views within your easy reach.

Also called as Ghorepani Poon Hill trek leads you to the superb Himalayan scenery of the Annapurna mountain series crossing through the wonderful Gurung villages, blooming Rhododendron forest, nicely cultivated terrace fields in the mid hill region of west Nepal. A short drive to trail head Naya Pul, we starting hiking on well developed trail along the Modi Khola River to arrive Ghorepani- the beautiful settlement of ethnic Gurung people. Early in the morning we ascend to the Himalayan view point station of Poon Hill, from where we can enjoy the outstanding views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Mt. Nilgiri (7040m), Annapurna South, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Hunchuli, Fish Tail, Lumjung Himal and many other mountains which dominate the northern skyline. In the coming few days we visit many beautiful villages on the trail and enjoy the best Mountain View in the world and back to Pokhara for lake side rest.

We use local Mountain lodge called “Tea House” managed by local people in our trip. This region boasts some of the best mountain lodges in Nepal. Our experience guides will lead you on a trip to remember.

Easy

Day 01 – Arrival in Kathmandu

  • Arrival in Kathmandu received & transfer to hotel. Rest of the day enjoy looking around the nearby area on own, O/N at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 02 – Sightseeing & Trek preparation in Kathmandu

  • Cultural excursion in Kathmandu. Meeting with Trekking guide & last minute preparation before heading for trekking, O/N at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 03 – Kathmandu to Pokhara 

  • Breakfast at hotel then drive approx 6 hours to Pokhara by SIC Coach- A popular town in the lap of Himalayas & Lakes. On the way enjoy beautiful landscape, scattered village, Local market place & Revarine valley. Arrival, Check in, Leisure & stroll around the market place or Lake, O/N at hotel in Pokhara

Day 04 – Trekking to Tikhedhunga (1750m)

  • 4 hours (B,L,D) After Breakfast take a short drive (an hour) to Hiking starting Point called Nayapul & trek towards Tikhedhunga (1570m) along the Ghorepani Poonhill loop with nice views of tribal village & Himalaya, O/N at a Family run Inn.

Day 05 –Trekking to Ghorepani (2840m)

  • 5 hours (B,L,D) After Breakfast move towards Ghorepani- A famous Himalayan village on the Annapurna region, via Ulleri along the lush green forest with blossom of rhododendron. Arrival, rest or walking around the lovely village, O/N at a Family run Inn

Day 06 –Hike up to Poon- Hill (3210m) & to Tadapani (2610m)

  • 6 hours (B,L,D) Early morning commences with hiking to Poon Hill- A very popular Himalayan View point for an hour. Enjoy the best & unobstructed views of whole Annapurna range including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurnas, Nilgiri, Fishtail & many more. After spending couple of hour with the magic of Nature, back to Ghorepani for Breakfast, then continue walking towards Tadapani for night stay, O/N at a Family run Inn

Day 07 –Trekking to Ghandruk (1940m)

  • 4 hours (B,L,D) After couple of hours pleasant walk along the Rhododendron forest arrive Ghandruk- A wonderful Gurung village which is also noted as home of Brave Grokha solders. Exploring the village is a worth to learn the culture, tradition, people & lifestyle of the locals, O/N at Family run Inn

Day 08 – Trekking to Pothana (1990m)

  • 4 hours (B,L,D) Walking from Ghandruk to Pothana is enjoyable with great views of several famous mountains including Dhaulagri, Hiunchuli, Fishtail & Annapurna series. A gentle walk will take you to a typical village called Pothana, O/N at Family run Inn

Day 09 –Trek down to Phedi & Drive Pokhara

  • 6 hours (B,L,D) Today is the end of this awesome trekking. Walk down to Phedi & short drive to Pokhara. Rest or personal activities, O/N hotel at Pokhara

Day 10 – Pokhara to Kathmandu

  • After B/F at hotel, drive back to Kathmandu on Tourist SIC Coach. Leisure or looking around local market for last minute shopping or personal activities on own, O/N hotel in Kathmandu
  • (Note: Can take flight to return Kathmandu instead of drive | Cost is extra !)    

Day 11 – Rest day in Kathmandu

  • Leisure day in Kathmandu, shopping or personal activities. Also considered as spare day in case of delay to arrival back in Kathmandu, O/N at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 12 – Fly Back Home

  • After Breakfast transfer to Airport on time & fly home with wonderful memories… Or extend your stay with one of our short trips…
